Membership Criteria & Benefits

At the Hudson Valley Guild for Mental Health Professionals, we believe in building a community that is inclusive, impactful, and accessible. Membership dues support our programs, trainings, community outreach, advocacy, and operations. We offer several membership options.

How It Works

CHECK QUALIFICATIONS

Use our checklist to ensure that you qualify to become a member of the Hudson Valley Guild

SUBMIT APPLICATION

Submit your application by visiting the Membership Application page. You will receive a confirmation via email when your application has been accepted

PAY MEMBER DUES

For the first year of membership, you will enroll in the New Member plan. The following year, you can choose from one of our tiered membership options, depending on your needs and qualifications

JOIN THE DIRECTORY (OPTIONAL)

Once member dues are paid, you can use your account to be included in the Therapist Directory. Remember: you must have active liability insurance in order to be included.

Once approved and paid, take advantage! Perks include a community of similar clinicians in your area, listing in the directory, and more

Membership Criteria

Membership in the Hudson Valley Guild consists of mental health practitioners in both private practice and agencies whose primary client base has a DSM-V diagnosis.

Members must have the following qualifications:

  • Licensed in their disciplines, e.g., Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Clinical and Master Social Workers, Nurses, Creative Arts Therapists, Marriage and Family Therapists, Mental Health Counselors or Psychoanalysts. OR

  • Hold a Masters degree or its equivalent in a mental health-related field. OR

  • Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselors (CASAC).  OR

  • Full-time or part-time students who are studying with the intention to become mental health practitioners. OR

  • Emeritus members who are currently not active in the field.

Additionally, members who participate in our Therapist Directory are required to carry up to date liability insurance.

We seek to create a robust and engaged membership community. All members are full voting members and are encouraged to attend the annual meeting where decisions are made for the upcoming budget and year’s programming. 

 

For the first year of membership, you will enroll in the New Member plan. The following year, you can choose from one of our tiered membership options, depending on your needs and qualifications. 

 

Our membership fees are designed to meet you where you are.  We invite you to check out our various levels of membership:

  • Retired or Limited Practice Membership

New Member, Student and Retired or Limited Practice Membership plans have to be re-enrolled every year. All other plans are run on a recurring basis, but can be canceled & readjusted at any time.

ABOUT Membership Engagement Discount

A member is eligible for MED if they have completed 5+ hours of qualifying activity and are in their 2nd year or later of membership. Qualifying activities include:

  • Serving on the Board

  • Assisting the Board without being a Board member

  • Serving on a committee (Events, Membership, or Social Justice)

  • Acting as a website/tech liaison

  • Hosting a social event for the membership

  • Managing the Guild social media page

  • Serving as a community liaison

  • Organizing or facilitating a supervision group

If you believe you meet any of these qualifications, please fill out our discount request form to receive a partial reimbursement for your annual membership dues.
